What You'll Work On
Our clients are small and mid-size businesses across the Portland metro area. They range from five-person offices to companies with 50 or more employees. Every day brings a different challenge. One morning you might be deploying a new firewall for a construction company. That afternoon, you could be migrating a medical practice to Microsoft 365 while making sure their HIPAA controls stay in place.
You'll handle everything from helpdesk tickets and workstation builds to network design, server migrations, and security incident response. We don't silo our team into narrow specialties. Everyone gets exposure to the full stack of technologies we support. That means you'll grow faster here than at a shop where you're stuck doing password resets all day.
We also take compliance seriously. If you're interested in frameworks like CMMC, NIST 800-171, or HIPAA, you'll get hands-on experience implementing and maintaining those controls for real clients. That kind of experience is hard to find outside of large consulting firms, and we give it to our people from day one.
Technologies We Work With
We're a Microsoft-first shop, but we're vendor-neutral when it comes to recommending what's right for a client. Here's a sampling of the tools and platforms you'll work with regularly:
- Microsoft 365 administration (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, Intune, Entra ID)
- Azure infrastructure and hybrid environments
- Windows Server, Active Directory, and Group Policy
- RMM and PSA platforms for monitoring and ticketing
- EDR and SIEM solutions for endpoint and threat detection
- Networking gear from Ubiquiti, Meraki, Fortinet, and SonicWall
- Backup solutions including Veeam and Datto
- VMware and Hyper-V virtualization
- VoIP and Teams Phone deployments
If you don't know all of these, that's fine. We hire for aptitude, curiosity, and work ethic. We'll train you on the tools. What we can't teach is caring about doing good work.
How We're Different From Other MSPs
Our founder has worked at three managed service providers over the past 20 years. He saw what burned out good engineers and what made them stay. The biggest problem at most MSPs is that technicians get spread across so many accounts they can never go deep on any of them. You end up spending your day putting out fires instead of building real solutions. That's not how we operate.
At Cascade Data, our team works with a smaller number of clients. That means you actually learn their businesses, their people, and their systems. When a client calls, you already know their environment. You're not starting from scratch every time. That's better for the client, and honestly, it's better for you. The work is more interesting when you're invested in the outcome.
We're also a veteran-owned company. That shapes our culture in ways that matter. Accountability, follow-through, and taking ownership of problems are not things we put on a poster.
